Luang Prabang
Flew into Luang Prabang and met up with some friends I met in Thailand. Hung out at the night market and then went bowling! Apparently it’s the big fun thing to do haha
Walked through the morning market, very interesting to see how they sell so many different foods. I tried out a couple little things but I didn’t get too adventurous. Then I headed to the Kuang Si waterfall that was beautiful. There have been butterflies everywhere and I think of Chanel every time I see one. Overall it was a nice day, I tried some street food and then made some friends from England and went bowling again.
Took a slow boat river tour to the Pak Ou Caves. We stopped at a local village to try their liquor and look around at their creations. The caves were cool, the walk up all the stairs was not. We also stopped and had a nice lunch besides the river.
I got to sit along the river and make a bracelet. Then I took the little ferry across instead of heading all the way to the bridge . Definitely some sketchy boards down to the water from the road though. I got a tuktuk to the train station and then I got on my train to Vang Vieng
Vang Vieng
Got to Vang Vieng, had a nice little hostel. I walked the night market and then made some friends at my hostel. Then I went and met up with my Dutch friends again and made some more Dutch friends haha. I also had the first of many sandwiches from this nice lady. I will be craving those forever.
Started our morning off with a pretty intense hike that had two viewpoints. It was 2.6 miles up and down but 1500m of elevation gain! Didn’t help that I was with a bunch of tall people. Then we got back, had some food and went on a hot air balloon! Was pretty cool, the views were awesome.
Had a chill day the next day, had food, smoothies and walked around the city. There was also a dog that lived at our hostel!
We went tubing again and had fun, lots of people and time on the water. Had some dinner after but also finished my night with another sandwich!
My Canadian girls I met in Cambodia came up to Laos and we got to hang again! We went kayaking with a couple of my Dutch friends on the river and don’t even tip over! Although we had a couple close calls… apparently I should tell them there’s a rock in front of us before we’re about to hit it haha.We checked out the night market and tried some hot pot!
We had a totally fun girls day for Valentine’s Day (Galentines day). We rented scooters and went to 3 different blue lagoons, spent the day swimming and putting hair wraps in. Then found a nice spot to watch the sun set. We all went out and I convinced everyone to try my favourite sandwich. That is the end of my time in Laos! Was very sad to see this country and city go.
